History

Airan Law, P.A. has a long and proud history spanning more than 25 years and several high-profile cases.

The firm’s most significant cases include representing plaintiffs in the high-profile 1984 Union Carbide case, in which Union Carbide India Limited accidentally released methyl isocyanate gas in the Indian city of Bhopal, resulting in at least 8,000 deaths. The firm also argued Murthy vs. Sinha Construction, which determines whether a contractor should be held liable for contractual negligence. This case was argued before the Florida Supreme Court and continues to be cited all over the United States.

A Brief History of the Firm

1978

Damodar Airan is inspired to go to law school when, working as an engineer on a landfill project in Surfside, FL, he is offered a bribe by a city official that would influence the 1982 election. He spends more than 2,000 hours working to see that the official is convicted and as a result, decides to become a lawyer.

1984

The law firm of Damodar S. Airan, P.A. is established, focusing on Real Estate Transaction and Litigation. Dar also takes on the Union Carbide case, the largest case of his career.

1994

Now named Airan & Associates, P.A., the firm presents the landmark Murthy vs. Sinha Construction case to the 3rd District Court of Appeals and two years later, to the Florida Supreme Court.

2007

The firm is now expanding to take cases Pro Hoc Vice in other states beyond Florida. Damodar Airan is considered an expert in Real Estate foreclosures.

2009

The firm becomes more involved with commercial and business clients representing condo associations, banks, etc. The firm also adds its Transactional Law expertise to residential and commercial transactions.

2014

The firm, now Airan Law, P.A., continues to grow, with Real Estate, Banking and Commercial Litigation being its primary focus.

Damodar S. "Dar" Airan

Attorney Damodar S. Airan is known as a creative problem-solver who approaches each case as a puzzle for which there are several possible solutions. He is admitted to practice law in the state of Florida and has appeared numerous times before various state trial courts and District Courts of Appeal.  He has also appeared before the Florida Supreme Court, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and Middle District of Florida and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida. He was born in India and has lived in the United States for more than 40 years. He is also a certified circuit/civil mediator.

Dr. Airan was formerly a licensed Professional Engineer and a licensed General Contractor for the state of Florida. He is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, completed his Masters at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, received his PhD from North Carolina State University at Raleigh and his Juris Doctor and LLM Degrees from the University of Miami School of Law. He is fluent in English and Hindi.
